Bahrain's Billion Dollar AirShow - watch the video
The inaugural Bahrain International Airshow , held at the Sakhir air base , has proved to be a resounding success for the aviation industry as a whole and for the Kingdom of Bahrain. The event hosted 40 participating companies, 94 aircraft and visiting delegations from 25 countries. Early indications suggest that deals worth somewhere in the region of one billion dollars were signed at the event with the attending companies from all over the world and thirty thousand visited the public and trade areas over the three days.
Rolls- Royce Motor Cars has launched its new model, the Ghost, in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“Since we first announced that work had begun on a new model series in 2006, anticipation has been building for the launch of this car. The feedback so far shows that the Ghost has surpassed all expectations,” said Peter Schoppmann, Rolls-Royce Regional Director for the Middle East.
“Ghost is attracting new buyers to the Rolls-Royce brand who appreciate its fusion of timeless elegance, new technology and contemporary style,” he continued.
Zayed R. Al Zayani, Managing Director of Euro Motors, said, “We are very pleased to welcome Rolls-Royce Motor Cars new model, the Ghost, to Bahrain. The initial response to the Ghost has been overwhelming. Following its official launch the Ghost is set to appear at Jewellery Arabia; we are confident that its introduction to the Bahrain market will underline Euro Motors impressive development."
The 2010 Formula One calendar has been released and it shows a 19-round championship. Such a number of destinations has not been seen in F1 since the 2005 campaign.
Bahrain will take over as the season-opening event next year, with Australia presented as the second round. Taking into account daylight savings time, the change allows the Melbourne race to start at 5pm, following the trend of 'twilight' races imposed by Bernie Ecclestone in order to favour television coverage for European audiences.
The Malaysian Grand Prix will retain its twilight status, however the race is scheduled an hour earlier with hopes of avoiding a mid-race wash-out as was the case this year due to the daily fierce rainstorms of April. Abu Dhabi follows the late-day race format as well, while Singapore remains a late-evening event under the floodlights.
Canada appears on the 2010 calendar although the contract remains to be signed; if negotiations should fall through again, Turkey which appears on the calendar in any case will be delayed two weeks in order to take over Canada's reserved date.
